| The Serbian church of Majs village in Baranya county was built in the place of the orthodox church in 1781 in a baraque architectural style. Special features of the church: |

1. One of the specialities of the church that can be perceived from a distance is its steeple which is unique in Hungary. The structure due to being in dangerous conditions was demolished in 1998. A year later, it was reconstructed and consecrated on the 31st October 1999. |

5. The wooden icons and wall pictures were likely to be painted by the same artist. Such technical versatility was rarely a characteristic of artists in the 18th century. It is also a unique feature that when painting walls, the painter used the same size proportions as it is usually used on icons. Thus there are several saints and pictures of holy days of 10-20 cm the walls. |

6. It is also a particularity of the church that there are some icons which present unusual scenes that cannot be found in pattern books, including the icon of Godparent Hodogrita, the raising of Lazarus, the common icon of Saint Nicholas and Simon, and a picture of Saint Sava and a so far unidentified saint. |

7. The upper part of the iconostas of the church was exposed in 2000 wich was previously painted on a stone wall. The structure was removed for reasons unknown but works of art on the apse wall, wich are integral parts of the then stone iconostas, can be still seen under the paint layer newly applied. Canvas oil paintings were put in place of the structure. This is similarly a unique solution with relation to the iconostas. |
